This cow dung dewatering machine in South Africa employs screw press mechanism to separate liquids from solids, reducing the moisture content of cow dung to around 60%. Through dewatering, the cow dung is easier to store, transport, and further process. Moreover, the dewatered solids can be processed into organic fertilizers.

Screws & Screens: Vital Components of Screw Press Dewatering
The screw and the screen play pivotal roles in the dewatering process. The screw is primarily responsible for material transport and compression. As the screw rotates, it transports the materials along the length of the machine, gradually compacting the material. With increasing pressure, this compression helps to squeeze water from the solids. Meanwhile, the screen serves as a filter that allows water to pass through while retaining the solid particles. The screw and the screen work together. As the material passes across the screen’s surface, the water will filter out through the openings in the screen under pressure.
